Only later in the day did they mention the driver and his “amnesia”.

Medically supportable. Brain injuries can do that.

The Central Park jogger’s last memory before the attack was about 10 hours earlier; the next thing she knew was waking up in the hospital weeks later. What happened in between, all she knows is what she was told later.
