Absolutely! These evil creeps take apologies as a sign of weakness, and an admission they were right all along:

Durr hurr, he said he made a mistake, therefore all climate science is fake! Herpity Derpity do.

Why give them ammunition? Yes, a correction should made when needed, but keep it completely factual and devoid of any “mea culpa”. Or, do the classic non-apology apology, as in, “With all the lies they tell, one can easily slip up and get confused as to when and where they told those lies” ;)
