I wonder what would happen if people in open carry states started showing up near movie theaters, malls, Republican constituency offices, schools etc. carrying assault rifles. Strictly within the letter of the law, mind you, and complete and prompt co-operation with the police when the show up in response to 911 calls.

This is a dangerous thing to do but I imagine that movie theater owners and mall owners (and the general public) would get sick of that pretty quickly and might call their congressman to see if something can be done about it.
