Of course, with the kind of typewriter a National Guard secretary would have, you’d either have to manually shove the carriage back to the left at the end of a line, or press a button when you were at the end of a line on an electric. (That’s where “carriage return” comes from.)

In these documents the line breaks are exactly the same as you get with MS Word’s auto-wrap feature.
