I know this because I still have utility receipts from 1987.
Yep. Going through my mom’s papers I found utility receipts — and grocery slips! — from 1953. Unopened Publishers Clearinghouse letters from the mid-80’s. Overdue library notices from the 60’s. Doctor’s bills (okay, sometimes useful because I was able to peg down the dates of a couple of surgeries). Green stamps, lots of ‘em. Et alia, ad infinitum, mixed in with family letters and photos and kids’ school papers.
Mine only go back to about 1975…
