Very interesting, thank you for sharing that.
I also read the accounts of how bloggers or journalists are now capable of claiming they “deleted” the photos they took (when forced to or threatened) but in fact they kept a reserve copy or simply retrieved the deleted photos from the camera memory. This also was never possible without digital cameras.

One of the few times I was confronted by Islamo-thugs (from the MSA), I did the old switcheroo. They tried to wrestle my camera away from me, but I wrestled it back, and during a distraction in the commotion, I popped out the memory card and popped in the (empty) spare memory card I had in the camera pouch. When they tried to grab it away from me a second time, I managed to press the shutter and get one random photo — so that when I finally let go on purpose, they saw that one photo, assumed there was a card full of them, and then deleted it, thinking they were deleting all my photos. But I still had them all on the original card!

(Of course, they succeeded in silencing me in other ways [fear], but at least I managed to outwit them, even though I never published the pictures.)
