On a lighter note, Fred Small did a fantastic song to the tune of “Charlie on the MTA” called “Sergei in the Milky Way”, about Sergei Krikalyov, the cosmonaut who ended up stranded in space when the Soviet Union dissolved.

He was shot into orbit by the Soviet Union,
A nation he was proud to call home,
When he got up there nothing was left but squabbling republics,
Sergei’s trapped in the Twilight Zone.

And did he ever return?No he never returned,
And his fate is still unlearned, (Poor old Sergei)
He may orbit forever round this crazy mixed-up planet,
He’s the cosmonaut who never returned.
