I’m not so sure that Trumpers even fully believe that fake news shit. Deep down, I think they know that the Trump administration has gone to shit, but they can’t actually admit it because to do so would mean looking weak. So they flail about with this obvious bullshit in a pathetic attempt to take the heat off their president. It ain’t gonna work.

Though that’s possible, I think you underestimate the extent to which they live in an alternative reality. I just went off on my Wingnut Cousin, who said of Muslims condemning terror attacks, “And ever so rarely has any Muslim condemned these actions.”

Of course that’s complete bullshit, which can be disproved with a few seconds of effort. But he wants to believe Muslims are all bad, so it simply doesn’t get through.

I’ve had online discussions with wingnuts about economics, real simple stuff like what happened to tax revenues after every tax cut. Usually when they see the graph showing it taking 5-7 years to reach the same level of revenue, they stop responding.

But then a couple weeks later, the same people will claim ‘tax cuts always increase tax revenues.”
