We had a lively discussion here a couple of nights ago about age gaps in relationships.

I’ve been thinking about it and it occurs to me we were in fact making an apples to oranges comparison.

These men getting busted for years of sexual abuse against young women and girls aren’t do it under the pretense of wanting a genuine relationship or any kind of honorable romantic interest.

It was just about sex and using their power and experience to coerce young and vulnerable people to do things they didn’t want to do and didn’t even full understand.

These men get off not only on the sex act itself but also their ability to manipulate and control people much weaker than they are.

These kinds of things are a far, far cry from a mutual and consensual relationship between a 19 year old and a 37 year old and it’s very important we do not confuse them and call the blatant abuse out for what it is:

Appalling, disgusting and completely inappropriate.
