My father’s long care facility in the Bismarck-Mandan area went the entire summer without one case. Now, in the last three weeks due to Sturgis, Labor Day, and a general ND statewide covid-is-not-worth-a-small-sacrifice attitude, over 20% of the residents have tested positive and at least 15 staff members too. At least three dead residents and some in ICU. I think they wrote 6 residents recovered. My dad is OK so far but we’ve had a couple scares already and obviously stay concerned as he’s in his 90s.

My 80yo father-in-law spent at least 9 weeks in ICU in Maine this summer and nearly three months hospitalized. He’s ‘recovered’ but still has a lot of rehab left.

And I have to deal with a neighbor who thinks we all should just get it and get over it and on with life. My mentioning my father-in-law only got a “well, he’s old anyway” response. No concern about denying them one last chance to see grand kids or anything. At least the neighbor is still having all his church friends meet at his house. People *sigh*
