The cynic in me says that if Obama had not been elected POTUS, Michael Steele would have never been given the RNC chair. I really honestly believe it was a “Hey, we’ve got one of those, too!” move on their part.

No sane or honest person can tell me that Herman Cain would have had a shot in hell in the GOP primaries without Obama being in office. He would have been relegated to the single digits like Alan Keyes was.
