He used a word that carries a lot of weight. He was actually making a valid point with it, but the word itself is so highly charged it opened an opportunity for the right to viciously attack him. Racism is more than words. It’s intent, and context, and action. The right wants to make it all about words, because that lets them avoid responsibility for their intent.
