My brother had a cattle dog when we were younger…she had pups. He docked their tails with rubber bands. Collected them all and made them into keychains. I had one for a few years. Hung out of my pocket and I’d be at parties and some gal would be talking to me and invariably pick it up and start stroking it…she’d ask, “What is this?” and I’d say, “Puppy dog tail. You know we’re made of them. (and snakes and snails)”
