Since the end of reconstruction led to a immediate backslide for equal rights, and an insanely large disenfranchisement of black people for (checks watch) up until about now, what “police state” would you imagine that is worse? I’m serious, paint me the picture you have in your head where not squashing the shit out of stuff like the Lost Cause puts us in a worse position today.
