I found out I have a bunch of surnames that are Englicizing of Black or the dark one and sure enough my Schwarz- mother of my great grandfather whose surname I bear was mother to a bunch of dark haired and eyed Krauts. I get my light blues from the Irish side!

Got inspired to go back on last night in light of Veteran’s Day as one of the English line that stayed overseas fought and died in France in WWI.
