The Mrs. and I are currently celebrating with breaking out a bottle of Cline Cellars Ancient Vines Zinfandel. That was after a dinner of pasta in butter sauce with orange peel and dill, vegies, and a salad.

That bottle will be finished tonight.

So it was said. So shall it be done.

For those who like Zinfandel, try an ancient vines zinfandel (these are from vines that are more than 75 years old, so the yield per acre is lower, but far more concentrated in flavor). We started seeking out these kinds of Zinfandels on our honeymoon, when we first drank it at Cline Cellar all those many years ago.

If you’ve never tried Zinfandel, try finding an ancient vines in your wine shop. It’s fruity, complex, and super smooth (low tannin/acid). You might find it almost chewy - jammy and with notes of rasberry and some mineral notes that balance out the sweetness. These aren’t sweet wines like say a reisling or gewurtz, so if sweet wines are your jam, maybe check something else out.
