A couple dozen of the largest Army purifiers could provide the (yecch) pure drinking water for a population of that size, but distribution would still be a nightmare. Not sure we still have that many not committed to SWA. Medical Corps used to bitch that we were ‘spoiled’ by bottled water when the units were available.

I would think that the community would be to wary of the use any local water source for purification. Trucking the water in from Lansing or Detroit would likely assuage the local concerns more.
