And the counter-counter-counter argument is that the Bible is not mentioned either in the Declaration of Independence or the US Constitution. If the framers thought that the Bible was so important it should be a cornerstone of our nationā€™s basic law, they would have put the Bible in there.

I am just being Devilā€™s Advocate here, so to speak for the Fundamentalist Right, but the counter-counter-counter-counter argument here is that the Bible is Godā€™s Eternal and Unchanging Word whereas the Constitution is a mere document made up by flawed human beings and continuously amended and re-interpreted.
