If you were a general facing an invasion, I’m thinking you would gather the troops on the ships and abandon the country before they got totally ashore so you can fight them.

How the hell did The British manage to not keep this country?

What the hell do you think is being done? Writing Congress isn’t going to work forever, writing the FCC isn’t doing a bit of good, blathering on websites isn’t going to do any good. I’ve got wonderfully specific plans for how to save the country, and every time I mention ‘em here, everyone yells about the use of railroad spikes, crowbars, and pushpins.

The fact is we have no plans at all for how to fix this beyond “1. Write Congress; 2. (a miracle occurs); 3. America is saved.” Stopgap measures cannot work forever, and pollyanna optimism is only going to get innocent people killed or enslaved.

And abandoning the country is something else we should be making serious plans for. We won’t be able to save many, but we should try to save those who are worth saving. I want my family and friends and favorite writers/artists/musicians to escape before it’s too late, even if I can’t go with them. But we don’t even consider that because we’re too arrogant/stupid/suicidal to consider how bad things are going to get.

I swan, I don’t know what’s wrong with some of y’all.
