The keyword here is Catholic and brown skinned. The ancestors of those Fundamentalist assholes are the same ones that got the quotas that nearly prevented my mom’s grandmother from being able to come to this country in the first place. It is so angering to me to see descendants of those people like my mom’s cousin embrace the same nativism.
