re: #197 Charles Johnson

Sympathy for Dorner is very real here in LA, by the way. I was at the market yesterday afternoon and overheard a conversation - without relating the whole thing, I’ll just say they were NOT friendly toward the way LAPD handled the case. I didn’t get the impression they approved of Dorner’s killings or thought he was a hero, but most of their ire was definitely directed at the cops.

I have zero sympathy for Dorner. To have sympathy for him because of the LAPD would be like sympathizing a spree killer that killed 4 people at a health insurance office — only because I hate health insurance companies. What Dorner did, and what the LAPD are, including their subsequent screw ups, are separate issues. There is no moral equivalency either to Dorners cold blooded murders and occasional bunked up cop shooting of a perp. Both are wrong but they’re also wrong in varying degrees. Dorner’s act puts him at the very pinnacle of evil or as some would say, sin.
