I find it depressingly fascinating that people who have authoritarian inclinations assume that every candidate for president — especially the opposition candidate — will become a dictator once in office, but at the same time welcome promises by their own candidate to do things only a dictator could do.

Hillary can not take over the USA any more than Trump can build a wall across the southern border.

And if your only mode of operation is authoritarianism, you won’t last long in the military anyway.

While when an order is given and expected to be followed, most of the military is not about giving orders, and several leadership styles have to be employed (a coach, a democrat, an authoritarian, a coercer, &c) depending on the situation. If you are stuck on one leadership style you will not be a leader very long; not even in the middle enlisted ranks.
