Hugh Hewitt is disconcerted upon discovering that the snake he took in is, in fact, a snake. Or in this case, a moron who thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.
“Trade war” is not a GOP position. It’s a Trump position. And it’s one he ran on explicitly, per the campaign website.

And conflict with China was promised (and may be needed over IP for@example) as well as NAFTA. Find me a speech or a debate exchange that promised this tariff. You seem to assert it resides in a web post unread and uncovered. I point to the actual campaign language and debates. https://t.co/dqvlYFfKY0

I honestly don’t understand this line of arg @hughhewitt. Protectionism has been his most consistent longterm position. He boasted of a potential trade war during campaign. That he chose a diff route — a diff tariff — doesn’t make it a surprise https://t.co/4sB2LIq5CH

It does because it penalizes all r allies. He seems 2 have embraced this policy without consulting Congress or even entire Cabinet. Tough measures w/ PRC, esp on IP, make sense. Maybe some NAFTA issues. This is #Disaster and @GOP ought to be persuading @realDonaldTrump it is. https://t.co/2XPqO14UDK
