If anything, Ermey wasn’t “blackballed” for being conservative, he was simply typecast, something that happens to a lot of actors, no matter what the political persuasion is; he just didn’t try enough or have the inherent chops to break that.

Right. And it’s unfortunate but it had nothing to do with his views. Gary Oldman is right wing and honestly a right wing asshole. He doesn’t have trouble finding projects.
