Whether the trial balloon will be lifted more than five feet will depend entirely on the gas of the senate and house.

Getting carried away = planning to hire 1 million more cops
Jumping the shark = planning a civilian enforcement group responsible to the president of the US which equals the country’s military.

Is he afraid of a military coup?

I don’t think we would have that problem here, although He might have to order the Military to put down civial insurrection…I wonder how many would follow that order these days?
