Most of the things I have heard from many sources have called Botswana one of the most functional nations in Africa. Before the recession started in late 2007, Botswana was rated equal in stability to Portugal.

That’s what I thought. I think I did some research after reading the McCall Smith books. Both series are written by white UK men. So I thought I should check some facts. McCall Smith grew-up in Botswana and loves the country. Anyway, I think I remember it being a sort of Oasis of sanity in the middle of some really messed-up countries.
