There have been other writing about her besides Hitchens. Her goal was to save souls, not lives. I also remember reading parts of her diary, lamenting in what could only be called highly sensual terms, how she never heard the voice of Jesus.
This was a tormented woman.
This differentiates her from other saints how exactly? Joan of Arc was excommunicated before the Church made her a saint for purely political reasons. To me the idea of arguing who is and is not deserving of sainthood is a laughably pointless exercise.
