The difference is that Boehner has tried harder to avoid a problem, but he got back-handed by his reps, who don’t want to make a deal that raises taxes.
Difference is that when Newt was in power, he might have expected that his own party had his back when he was playing chicken with Clinton over the budget. From all appearances, Boehner never had his party’s support in these negotiations and was wasting everybody’s time with them.
