Well, that’s done for two years, m’dear. Hopefully, open carry on all University campuses in Texas (well, the public ones) won’t result in blazing shootouts between the Phi Delt’s and the Sigma Nu’s after pledge drive keggers. But I’m not holding my breath.

What wasn’t addressed this year by the Lege was the savage inequality in how schools are financed in the State and how property taxes are levied to compensate for the State’s woeful contribution to public education. She Who Must Be Obeyed and I bought our house in ‘97 for $155,000 and our property taxes due in December are now just under $10,000.

Damn, that shit has been going on since I was in school over 20 years ago. There was a “Robin Hood” plan at that time, so the tiny school district with a Nuclear power plant in its back yard was coughing up funds for the inner city poors in Houston.

I expect that got sidelined after I left.
