If this follows the Nixon template… this is when Trump starts throwing people under the bus. There’s a long-standing rumor that it was Nixon who leaked the evidence that brought down Agnew, in hopes that this was a big enough fish to satisfy the investigators and distract them from finishing the Watergate pursuit. It might have worked, if only somebody hadn’t mentioned (in a televised hearing) the Oval Office taping system…

The committees in Congress obviously remember enough that they’ve been holding closed-door “interviews” instead of televised hearings…
