But if I were anti-religious, I would be a mean-ass Machiavellian and support an established Church, because that is the very thing that kills true faith.

It depends on how you define the “Church”. If you’re referring simply to the bureaucracy of, say, The Vatican or Canterbury? I could probably agree. But if you mean the people who are in the parishes trying to do what is right and good? I’ve been a member of three different parishes in my life and can say all three well and truly try to live by the gospel.
