They never have leverage, and yet it’s the Dems that the media thinks need to “compromise” when this 11th hour-style horseshit happens. Instead of the pressure being on the Repubs to give ground or even accept that their bill is shite, it’s Dems who are under pressure to convince the voters that their bill is the better of the two. Or (Zod help us) it’s Dems who have to break from their “radical” base and “meet in the middle.”
