Why are some Americans so likely to lose it and commit violence? Even outside of robbery etc. Examples abound. School/work shootings. Domestic violence. Gang shootings.

There is something very deeply wrong here.

White male Americans are taught from birth that they are special and great. They are taught overtly and subtly that they are part of the privileged class, and this means specifically that they have rights that others around them do not. They have the right to women on demand, they have the right to hurt others, they have the right to be heard and respected, and most importantly, they do not have to suffer consequences. Gun rights in America are not about guns or freedom or anything else - they are about the right of the privileged in group to take lives if they so choose.

All places have disaffected people, poor mental health care, despair, and the like. But most nations reserve the use of force for the state - that’s one of the points of having a nation-state in the first place, that it gets a monopoly on the use of force and theoretically uses it judiciously for the greater good. Americans do not believe in this - they believe that the privileged class also is able to use lethal force at their discretion and they are given the tools to do it, cheaply and easily. This isn’t just a RWNJ idea - I think a majority of Americans don’t really see a problem with the idea of shooting someone who’s shoplifting, fleeing the scene of a crime, resisting arrest, or even just being belligerent in a bar. And this is why, as a nation, America is okay with human sacrifice, as long as the protected class remains privileged.
