I can’t even begin to count the number of false alarms that this area gets because more times than not, temperatures hover just above or just below freezing when the precipitation hits - and when it gets into gear, the warm gulf air takes over and all we get is rainfall. It really is a crapshoot to accurately forecast, because it is extremely rare to have a snow event when temperatures are below 25 degrees, and actually stay there.

No, sir, you are not. You never will be. That’s okay. Don’t shit the troops. Don’t tell them that forty plows over 200 miles of high-priority roadway are enough to keep things smooth. They are not, and anyone north of Mason-Dixon could have told you so, had you bothered to ask.

This is what Atlanta’s citizens heard from their elected leadership, and those who listened to that leadership were put in a big steaming shitpile worth of trouble.
