Rudy went from someone at one point I hoped could put the GOP in a more modern direction to someone who is nothing but a presidential henchman. I never liked him too much but I had hoped that his then relative social moderation would do them some good.

I remember when he was Mayor of New York: he was always held up as some sort of “New Model Republican” because he tempered his badge-sniffing racist neofascism by not signing on to the bulk of stock GOP prejudice-mongering; but it was all vaporware. Rudy was just another cronyistic hack: re-elected mainly because his D opponent was even worse: by 2001 (inflated 9/11 “heroics” notwithstanding) the City was pretty done with him. But 20 years on, his descent into ludicrous mega-hackery has been sad to see.
That said, fuck Rudy with rusty farm implements. Sideways. Twice.
