In some ways (though not many) I do pity my poor wife. Add to the usual complications the fact that she’s hitched to a fellow whose neurology (according to the overpaid experts) is decidedly atypical, and communication between us becomes at times almost impossible.

She’s learned not to ask “What are you thinking?” because the answers I provide make no sense to her, and often leave her even more confused than she was before. And she certainly knows not to ask “But how do you feel about X, Y, or Z?” because often I have no feelings about X, Y, or Z at all, and the very lack of sentiment only enrages her.
