Put any real pressure on him and he’ll fold like a cheap suit.

I think it’s pretty clear that Pence fantasizes about ridding himself of Trump, who is obviously very sick in the head and seems to be spiraling downward mentally. Pence’s problem is figuring out how to unseat his boss while keeping his fingerprints off the dagger or else earning the wrath of Trump’s atavistic base.

Furthermore Pence is much more of a far right Christian with a firm religious ideology, than a protean populist / nationalist like Trump. Worse for him is that he’s much less of a showman so I doubt he’ll be able to fake the carnival atmosphere and maintain the spectacle that has endeared Trump to the GOP’s low functioning base. So even if he can take over as President he’ll have is work cut out for him trying to distance himself from the treasonous criminality of the campaign while also earning an equivalent place in the heart of racist America.
