Room dehumidifier works best in that fans partly don’t take out every bit of moisture, partly because moisture can migrate, but it is a good step while you do the first run and hunt for dehumidifiers after having dried up what you can with rags. But in a very dry climate, it will work.
Another thing is to rent one of those shampooers with two metal tubs (soapy water and dirty water) and use the power of the suction to soak up the carpets. Them do the humidifier and fan bit. But get up as much actual wet as possible.
