It just breaks my heart because the worst of this could have been avoided. This is on Trump. This is his legacy even more than taking Russian help in the election.

This is on Republicans more than on Trump. Trump is adding his own special brand of criminality and blatant incompetence to the covid19 response, but IMO any other Republican administration would have fucked up the response roughly as badly as Trump has done.

Modern Republicans simply don’t see the need to have government respond to a disaster.
