Depends. Sometimes it’s just typing your name in and acknowledging that it represents your signature. Sometimes you physically sign on the screen (using a mouse or your finger on a touchpad) and it inserts your signature as an image.

I HATE using the mouse or finger on a touchpad — it’s not as though the result bears any resemblance to your actual signature. Almost anyone could forge a signature that way since it would appear just as similar as your real signature.
