Who knows. Like every country, Canada has specific forms and procedures to renounce citizenship. All I saw him do was release a letter “renouncing” his citizenship, which doesn’t do anything.

I am a dual citizen myself and generally have no issues with the concept, but when it comes to senior government officials it can be a diplomatic problem.
