Back in 1973, the retired School Superintendent of my rural school district said to me “Of course people get more conservative as they age. What bothers me is when these young people who are conservative. They become extremists.”

Or it can go the other way. My mother was a staunch Conservative until Reagan. She voted for him, watched the shitstorm, and said, “Never again.” She would not vote Republican now if you held a gun to her head.
