Okay, so why “what age”? I don’t remember it being a rites-of-passage thing when I was growing up in the 1970s to see the “hidden 8” in the 8 of diamonds. This totally smacks of classic enforced nostalgia. Why couldn’t this person just say “Hey, you can see a hidden 8 in the 8 of diamonds! Cool, huh?”

As to “what age”, my answer would be: an age where people cared about more important things.
