Yep and frankly with the exception of Dole, every Republican nominee in my life has been. Not that I don’t think Bush I or McCain served honorably in public life but both men had a step up early on because of who their fathers were. Conversely, Gore and Kerry are teh only Dem nominees in my life part of that system. Both Clintons and Obama worked their way up. As you’ve said before, conservatives could have said Obama, raised by a single mom who ended up as a Harvard law graduate as a great American success story, instead they smeared his late mother as a whore and acted like he got where he got through AA.

Barack Obama is the literal example of what conservative and libertarian economic theories state: That despite your background or upbringing, if you apply yourself and grab the opportunities as they come along, take risks when they can help you, you can rise above your station, even to be President.

Instead, the GOP went for the same racism they’ve touted ever since Goldwater.

The adverts could have written themselves for the GOP: We don’t agree with his politics, but he’s proof our policies and ideas are right.
