It’s a New York thing. My mom did it only once, when she was in her 20s. Not sure about my dad, but he was unlikely to have wanted to. As for me, I’ve not done it yet. Living 7,500 miles away is one problem.

I’d do it once, just to say I’ve done it as a native New Yorker. It’s more fun with some friends to share the crazy experience.

That said, people come hours ahead of time just to stake out a place. That part makes it less appealing, but hey! With global warming, it might not be so cold in the future!

It’s tough for me since I’m an introvert and most of my tight friends live out of the area. Then again, I did experience San Fermin alone and that was an amazing experience but I’m an introvert who has a lot of extrovert in him. I like people but my Asperger’s makes it harder for me.
