The just ignore him argument stopped making sense when he started winning GOP primaries. Maybe he should have been ignored or ostracized from political discussion when he became King Birther but now 8 years later with him as POTUS, no we can’t ignore him. He’s already appointed two SCOTUS judges, many more circuit judges, and has transformed executive power into something very dangerous.

The press could have taken him to task for making false, spurious or unsubstantiated claims, but they just simply related what he said without question or comment.
