Nebraska also pays out more to the feds than it receives. That said, there is a vast difference within the state between the richest and poorest counties by income (I live in the eleventh-poorest according to the newspaper here, and my income is below the county average—that said, we live even more frugally than our income allows, which is why we can occasionally travel).

I know there was another one or two red states besides Texas that paid out more than it received in federal $$$; I couldn’t remember which ones. Good to know that Nebraska is one of them.
