re: #194 ProGunLiberal

I probably need a little bit to cool down.

Still, history paints a poor picture of the Salafists.

You need to cool down a lot. And not just in the short term.

History paints, often justifiably, a poor picture of a lot of people. It’s not a good standard on which to judge the living. The past is a damn charnel house.

And talking about purges and punitive action is just childish. Death shouldn’t be trivialized, and warfare does not have video game, clear-cut victory terms. Silencing opponents by making them corpses isn’t a “win”—it’s a deferment at best.

And it’s also not good to walk around angry about things you have no control over. From the way you talk about your family life here, it’s sounds like you need to make terms with your own experiences, learns something from them, and not let your emotional life be defined by frustration, indignation and outrage. It doesn’t help you, it doesn’t help the things you care about.

The win in this situation is to not let the things/people that anger you control your life or what’s going on in your head. Going off on Salafism and/or assholes in the MSA every day doesn’t show that you care, it shows that these events dominate your thought process.
