Bashing the Jewish faith has a long and ignominious tradition in Christianity whenever people of governments needed a scapegoat for their problems.

One of the great failings of Martin Luther was when he made his break with the Catholic Church, he could have also broken with the anti-Semitism. Instead he doubled down on that, and Germany was primed by it for someone like Hitler to take advantage of it.

It’s so stupid to me. The Bible doesn’t declare any explicit anti-Semitism; in fact, usually the people who hate the Jews wind up getting smited by God or some other equally gruesome fate. If you’re going to blame someone and want to have a vaguely plausible reason for it, you should probably pick some group other than the one that literally wrote the book you espouse as the holy book of your religion.
