The good guy with a gun can’t stop a bad guy with a gun if the bad buy has longer range, has more ammunition and has more firing power.

if the good guy with the gun has training, experience and nerves of steel, then he has a reasonable chance of stopping the bad guy in a public active shooter setting without endangering lives.

otherwise he should only be using his gun to defend himself and his home.
